yes the archive page is checked.
I have categories of wordpress.

Did you set a custom rewrite?
If so, you may need to save permalinks under Settings.
If you set a rewrite to /, the additional code may be needed.

This might be related to wanting a custom post type to appear on a category archive. WordPress only shows posts by default.
