I want to upgrade to mailpoet3 but read that I will lose my archive of earlier newsletters.

Is there any way anyone can suggest a solution to retain those and continue with the same archive page, with links to both old and new newsletters on the same page.

Only two answers come to my mind:
1 – keep the mailpoet2 plugin active as well as 3 (if that’s even possible) so that it’s archive shortcode still works.
2 – convert all old newsletters to pdf files and link to those (a lot of work to set up)

  • You won’t lose them, they just won’t be migrated from MailPoet 2. Yes, we suggest everyone keep MailPoet 2 active for a while if you want to access previous newsletters or statistics.

Thanks for the reply, though it is disappointing.

I prefer to keep the MP2 newsletter archive permanently available, so keeping the old plugin active is not really a practical solution. But (I hope) the old newsletters are in the database and should remain there permanently even if I remove the plugin. Can you confirm that?

Providing that is the case I shall write my own short-code based on the one in MP2, to allow continued access combined with the newsletters generated from MP3.

Failing that I shall have to convert them to PDF’s as per my second option above and add the links to the MP3 archives page.
