I have several widgets with text/html in the sidebar with StartupWP theme.
The first widget shows everything. But the others show only the “title” (above” the HTML and leave the rest blank (no image no text). I have no idea why.

Any clue that there would be something in the html I should watch for that would be the culprit?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Maybe it’s something in the HTML.
Have you tried removing the HTML from there and just using text?
Have you trie switching themes and/or deactivating all of your plugins?

Could you paste the HTML of the first widget here?

    Thanks for your suggestions!
Christine: I haven’t tried but I will see if it works in another theme: I assume this would eliminate the cause, if it works in another theme, and therefore I would see the issue with the StartupWP theme developer.

If I remove entirely the HTML, I will loose the graphic and the fact that it points to a hyperlink.

I will also try deactivating the plugins.

    I appreciate your help!

Aaron: the first widget (that works) reads:

    <img alt=”” src=”https://media.enimgs.net/brand/files/escalatenetwork/1206/FTD-Valentines300x250.jpg&#8221; width=”300″ height=”250″ />

Oh oh oh… I am noticing now, that the main difference between the three widgets texts (the one above that works and the two others that don’t show) is that only the one above is saying <a href="https://enlnks.com/aff_c?offer_id=1206&aff_id=6994&file_id=7016" target="_blank"><img alt="" src="https://media.enimgs.net/brand/files/escalatenetwork/1206/FTD-Valentines300x250.jpg" width="300" height="250" /></a>

    img alt=”” src=

where the two others just say
    img src=

I do not “speak” HTML and am just guessing? Should I try to add the missing alt=””
    in there?

Nope. Adding img alt=”” did not change anything, so I am going to try the other suggestions.

Thanks again for your helping me!

So I shifted to another theme and there was no widgets at all (not even the ones that were working). So I reverted to my prefered theme.

Also I am noticing that if I try to include that HTML in a post, shifting back to visual after I entered the text, it does not show either in the post, and reverting back to text, a series of characters have added after the
    img alt

I am going to email to the support that provided me with the HTML code I guess.

Today I tried to look at the site via a different browser, and lo and behold, those html were showing: therefore, it is my browser which is obsolete (and not anything else!)

Who would have guessed? (well, I should have known, because I know I am running on obsolete hardware…).

For info… the browser in question is Firefox 3.6.17
My OS does not support the upgrade and I can’t upgrade my OS because… a DVD is stuck in the driver… yes I know… that’s my life!
