• A client uses CF7 to collect submissions for a TV show. They had previously configured CF7 so that they could approve or deny a submission from the admin panel, with a an approve or denied e-mail sent back to the sender, in addition to the mail2/thank you auto-respond. After updating the plugin and wp to 2.9.2, this option no longer seems to be available.

How can we enable this again?

    How did they do this?

No one seems to know who did it or how.

According to them, in the WP admin panel under “Contact” in the admin sidebar/menu, there was an option to view messages and a button to approve or deny them, much like a comment system.

Probably they had customized the plugin code. No one can help unless they have a backup of it.

I have a backup of the entire old installation, including the plug-in.

I’d like to know if there is a way to customize the plug-in so that when we update, that option will not be overwritten.

Yes. Contact Form 7 has many filter and action hooks in its codes. If you are familiar with WordPress plugin development, you can make your customization as a another plugin that control Contact Form 7 by using its hooks. It will not be overwritten when Contact Form 7 has update.

Are they not mixing it up with TDO miniforms though? That is a plugin that can be made to do alomst anything.

No, they are not. Can TDO Miniforms be used to manage email? I know it’s common use is for post submissions.
