Approved booking doesn’t show in Pinpoint > Reservations

My client recently received an email with the subject line: “Your booking request has been approved.”
The email had Pinpoint reservation details, and WooCommerce Payment Order details, but this transaction only showed up under the WooCommerce > Orders, and it did not show under Pinpoint > Reservations.
In WooCommerce > Orders, I tracked down the customer’s order, and it showed that the transaction actually failed due to entering the wrong CVV number for their credit card.
In this case, when the transaction failed at checkout, why did my client receive an email saying that a booking request was approved?
Is it possible that this is spam?
My client did not approve this booking (since it didn’t even appear in the “Reservations” page). Also, another thing that I found weird was that the transaction took place on June 25th, but my client received this email on June 28th.
