Apply Smart Quotes on Taxonomy description

    okay, just figured it out: since Smart Quotes does not apply an own filter on the_content, but rather changes the glyphs used for WordPress’ core formatting functionality, you can simply use wptexturize function.

    In may case it’s:
    echo wptexturize( $tax->description )
