Apply back up of my website

  • I am about to attempt to update my theme (X Theme) and with my version may break my site completely. I have recently created a back up of my website (Database and files)
    My questions are:
    1. Is there anything else I should do prior? (In case I break my site)
    2. What is the process to implement the back up of my site into WordPress?
    Any help as a precautionary action would be greatly appreciated as I have put so much into this website.

  • 1. No, as long as you’re sure that you have a complete copy of the files and the database, you’ve got everything that you’ll need.

    2. Re-instating a backup depends on how it’s done. If you manually copied the files and database, then you will need to manaully copy them back to the server. If you did it with a backup pluign, then you’ll need to follow the instructions for that plugin.
