    Hi,

I’ve just installed this plugin and am testing it.

I’ve noticed that on the checkout page there is an “Express Checkout” section at the top of the page for Apple Pay and Google Pay, AND at the bottom of the page in the “Payment” section there are additional radio buttons for Apple Pay and Google Pay.

What is the philosophy behind this approach? My understanding is that having it show up at the top in the “Express Checkout” is sufficient in order to avoid having to fill in the address form. Why would we want it presented as an option a second time?

    Thanks,

    Wolfgang

Not every checkout page is standard or predictable in the types of fields that the customer must fill out. For example, some checkout pages require a VAT number to be entered, which is not something that Apple Pay or GPay wallets can provide. Therefore, it’s prudent to provide the Apple Pay and GPay payment methods as options not just in the express section, but in the traditional checkout payment methods section.

In cases where express payment methods can’t provide all the required fields, merchants may still and should offer those high converting payment options as it still saves the customer the time of manually entering their credit card info.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick explanation. Point taken.

I have one more observation regarding this. In Firefox browser Apple Pay isn’t supported and Apple Pay is therefore not shown in the “Express Checkout” section. This is I think the best approach — if an option doesn’t apply, don’t show it.

But in the “Payment” section the radio button for Apple Pay is still present even though it only leads to the fact that the “Place Order” button disappears when this option is chosen. It would be better NOT to present it in the first place.

    Is this a possibility?

    Thanks

The plugin is already coded to not show the radio buttons if the payment method isn’t supported. But we can’t account for how every single theme is going to override css and styling so some themes override this behavior.

If you analyze the css using your browser’s developer tools, you will see your theme is overriding the Stripe plugin’s styling which coded to hide the payment method if it isn’t supported.

    Thanks

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I’ll correct the CSS then.
