Append .webp for WP Rocket?

    Should we enable “Append .webp extension” if we have WP Rocket?

    They detect Optimus as being able to deliver .webp images, but not sure if we should enable the option to append .webp or not.

    Any advice?

    WP Rocket supports rewriting WebP images that have the .webp extension replaced (e.g. example.webp). I’m unsure whether or not WP Rocket supports rewriting WebP images that have .webp appended (e.g. example.jpg.webp). For an accurate answer I’d recommend either testing the functionality yourself or reaching out to the team behind WP Rocket directly. (I would test this myself for you but the plugin they offer is not free.)

    I’ve asked WP Rocket to confirm this and they said there is no need to enable “Append .webp extension”.
