• Hello,
I’ve editing the permissions for Editors so that they can access the Appearance options (mainly so they can edit menus) but the sub-items aren’t showing under Appearance.

They can get to the page by going to the direct link, however there’s no option on the menu.

    Is this a bug?

    Hi Jamie,

What exactly you did with ‘editor’ role? You have to add ‘edit_theme_options’ capability to it. Do you have any other code installed (functions.php or some plugin, including “must use” ) which may hide those submenu items.

    Hi Vladimir,
“edit_theme_options” has been checked for the Editor role – no other permissions changes were made.

I have no custom PHP in functions.php.

I am using a plugin called “Adminimize” which allows me to hide certain items off the menu for certain roles, but I have not changed anything to do with the Appearance section for any role.

    Hi Jamie,

Did you tried to deactivate all plugins? It will show you if some plugin (like Adminimize) is involved in the issue.

    Hello,
I have deactivated Adminimize and still nothing changes.

Just to exclude any intervention and then isolate a reason, try to deactivate all plugins and even switch to the default WordPress 2016 theme. Will it change Appearance menu?
Especially check if some “must use” plugin installed.

I have now figured out the issue – there were conflicting settings in the plugin “White Label CMS”.

    Thankyou for your help!
