I have been using WordPress on my own site (helloreddingct.com) without a problem. A friend asked me to fix up her site (www.njsocf.org) but when I opened it, “Appearance” does not show up in the dashboard and I cannot change the theme.

Since mine is working fine (I host through GoDaddy and I uploaded through them) I did not want to reload wordpress onto my system.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

  • When you log into your friends site, what role does the (your) user have?

I am logged in with her credentials. She doesn’t seem to know much about this, and had someone else working on it in the past. I don’t think she wants to tell the other person that she asked me to work on this.

How do I tell what her role is? I assumed she was the administrator but I don’t see that anywhere.

    thanks!

Can you list users on the site, or view/install plugins. It could be that her role is not that of administrator or maybe there’s a menu restriction in place that hides certain menu items from certain admins.

No, I can’t list users or view/ install plug ins.

I know she owns the site. Can she make me an admin without getting the log in from the other person?

Conventionally, no. You can add an administrator via PHP/MySQL but it’s not a newbie type task. You could end up doing more harm than good.

i also have same problem. i have addmin password and i m login successful but it not showing appearance option to me plz help me what i do now
    ?

I have the same problem… it’s a new one. Appearance, Plug-ins, and I’m not sure what else are not in the Dashboard. What the heck?!
