I have set the home page of my site to appear in SERPS as:

Driving lessons in Scunthorpe and Brigg : [site name]

But it appears the other way round:

[site name] Driving lessons in Scunthorpe and Brigg

    See: https://ibb.co/bRDHtYw

I have emptied the relevant caches etc.

Any idea why this is happening?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @stevethefootycoach,

We viewed the page source of https://www.broughtonschoolofmotoring.com/ and the SEO title shows as what you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin:

<title>Driving lessons in Scunthorpe and Brigg : Broughton School of Motoring</title>

This means that the issue is not related to the Yoast SEO plugin. The title you enter in our snippet preview is a suggestion for Google. If you’ve crafted awesome meta tags for your blog posts, nothing is more annoying than Google showing other information for your site in the search results.

Google’s generation of page titles (and descriptions) is completely automated. Google’s goal is to best represent and describe each result. They use a number of different sources to get this information. In doing so, they try to make the search results as relevant as possible. Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display your preferred title and description other than changing them and testing which one sticks.

We have an extensive knowledge base article that can help you understand why: Google is showing the wrong title for your site.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
