Appearance does not exist on my page ??

  • I am a complete Newbie so please forgive my lack of know how and technical terms.
    I am trying to upload a theme that I purchased at THEMEFOREST. As recommended by Word Press I am using FILEZILLA and have followed all instructions on downloading and uploading as provided in the Codex. Everywhere I look for help to complete this task says to go to APPEARANCE from my admin page … there is no APPEARANCE on my page. I’ve even located a picture

    and my Admin page has no dashboard. How do I find this?
    Also I need t upgrade to a newer version, 2.9.1. I have followed the instructions for this also and nothing has changed.
    I’m really confused and getting frustrated with myself … will someone please point me in the correct direction?

    I am using register.com for my host, if that matters.

  • can you take a screen shot of your admin area and post it?

    Also, I would recommend uploading the ‘admin’ and ‘includes’ folders again.

    Is the new them you bought uploaded under THEMES in the CONTENT folder?

    Hello, thank you so much for replying. I would love to take a screen shot but don’t know how, I’m very green, sorry.
    I installed word press with the help of my host, register.com, there was a button, so I have no clue how to upload word press at all, especially not select files … I’d love to learn.
    I have nothing on my admin themes page. Look at the picture in the link that I put in my original post and cut off the whole dashboard on the left … that is what my page looks like, no folders, no options, just the two basic themes and a link to find more themes at word press.
    Thank you again for your reply , I really appreciate it … maybe I need an online guide for Dummies, is there one?? lol
