App Review submission required?

    I am using the WD Facebook Feed plugin. I have set up a Facebook app ID (and secret key).

    Now I receive a message that:

    App Review submission required by August 1, 2018 to retain access to Facebook Platform APIs

    Based on the guidance here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review
    I still cannot determine whether this needs to be submitted for review, or not. I also have no clue how to either submit it for review if needed, or how to tell Facebook that a review is not needed (if indeed it is not necessary.)

    Can someone please give advise on this issue? Is a review needed if we are just straight-up using the WD Facebook Feed plugin, with our own registered app ID? What are we supposed to do?

    Hi,

    After a bit of research, our team has found that it is only required to submit for review in case the Facebook App has products added to it.

    If your app does have products, please do submit it for review. Otherwise, you can skip the reviewing process.

    In any case, here is a video that shows how the submission for review can be done.

    What do you mean, exactly, by “Facebook App”? This is confusing, I think, because I don’t have an “App”, really. I just set up an “App” in the FB developers console in order to get an App ID and key. When I did so, it was confusing regarding what type of App to tell them it was, since I wasn’t creating anything besides something to give me the ID and key.

    It is your plugin which is the “App”, isn’t it? How do I classify the plugin? What type of “App” is it?

    Sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by asking if it “has products added to it”. It (the “App”?) IS just a feed of posts from Facebook – right?

    Hey,

    Please note, that by Facebook App I was referring to the app in Facebook Developers Console. Unfortunately, Facebook requires submitting these apps to review.

    To do that, go to App Review page from developers.facebook.com, click Start A Submission, then choose manage_pages.

    Afterwards, press Submit for review. Please have a look at this video recording.

    Note, that Facebook may require filling out some options also, such as uploading an icon, or privacy policy link.

    Thanks, that helps.

    I think that you should spell out these instructions more clearly in your documentation, and put a link to clear instructions on this issue in the plugin options page. It is now too complicated for an average feed plugin user to intuit or figure out without that explicit help.

    More and clearer instructions are always appreciated!
