    Hi!

We fill in our product prices with tax already included to get nice rounded prices for our customers. This works fine on the site and customers get to see how much of the rounded price is tax.

However, in the app, when manually creating an order. It calculates tax based on the price of the product which already has tax included.

For example a product costs €300 incl. tax. which is how it is filled in on Woocommerce.
On the site, the user gets to see “€300 (incl. €52,07 Tax)” which is correct.
On the app, I get to see the price of €300 + €63 tax = €363.

Is this a setting or a bug?

    Thanks!

    Martienskie

    Hey @martienskie,

It sounds like the WooCommerce app is not correctly recognizing that your prices are entered inclusive of tax. This is likely due to a setting in the app.

To fix this, please go to the app settings and navigate to “Taxes”. Here, you should find an option that says “Prices Entered With Tax”. Make sure this is set to “Yes”. This should ensure that the app recognizes that your product prices already include tax and should stop adding tax to the already tax-inclusive price.

If this doesn’t solve your problem, please fill out our contact form to reach our app support team from within the app by going to Menu > Settings > Help & Support > Contact Support.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Shameem,

I do not have a “Taxes” setting inside the settings of the app only the following:

    • Help & Support
    • Store name
    • Manage notifications
    • Appearance
    • Image optimization
    • Privacy settings
    • Beta features
    • Send feedback

I’ve reached out from the app Contact Support

    Thanks

    Hello @martienskie,

I’m not able to replicate this on my test site, I’m also using tax-inclusive settings.

Just to confirm, are you deducting the tax from the product price using this filter?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Saif,

I’m not using any filter for calculating prices or taxes. Only the built in functionality.

Here is a link to a screen of the determining (I think) setting:

From what I can see, the tax is calculated properly in both the app and the admin dashboard.

On the site, the user gets to see “€300 (incl. €52,07 Tax)” which is correct.
On the app, I get to see the price of €300 + €63 tax = €363.

Just to clarify, does what you described here occur on the front end of your store?

If so, this is expected. You can refer to this guide on how tax-inclusive prices work: https://woo.com/document/setting-up-taxes-in-woocommerce/#frequently-asked-questions

    Hi Saif,

I should’ve given some more info.

Here is a link to a screen of the determining (I think) setting:
    https://imagebin.ca/v/7n9GdzzXn8nh

Here you can see the setting which says that all product prices are filled in inclusive of tax.

Here are the links to screens from a test order I made on the app:
    https://imagebin.ca/v/7n9HCLJp2PMP
    https://imagebin.ca/v/7n9I0IWPOdaj

The product you see in these images costs €129,99 inclusive of tax as is exactly the amount filled in into the “price” field of the product. And thus, in this example, the total should be €129,99.

Despite this, when manually creating an order with the app, it adds an additional €27,30. The app thinks that the €129,99 is EXclusive of tax.

Ideally, the app should say €107,43 with €22,56 in taxes as is the case when a client orders this product in the webshop.

    A final case for completeness:
When manually creating an order in the backend of the site, I manually need to press “add tax” and adjust the prices to the right amounts. Because when adding the product, it just counts the €129,99 as total of that product without bothering to automatically create the tax field.

    Thanks

    Hi there @martienskie ??

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further.

This is odd. I went ahead with testing this, with a test site of mine, and the results were as expected.

Below, I am attaching the related tax settings and resulting front-end experience, for reference.

    Same with the mobile app.

Could you please verify the tax settings are set up as showcased above and that you have the latest version of WooCommerce Mobile installed on your device (it’d be version 16.6, for Android), and see if the issue persists, or otherwise?

I hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Pepe,

    Thanks for answering!

These are my latest tax settings:
    https://imagebin.ca/v/7np3bcLM9z9p

I had to change “Shipping tax class” from “Shipping tax class based on cart items” to “Standard” but this seemingly didn’t affect anything. I also tried changing the “Rounding” settings but in vain.

Here is what my checkout page looks like with my current settings:
    https://imagebin.ca/v/7np4fo8aEkLl

As you can see, tax is calculated correctly here.

Creating an order on the app still results to €157,29 instead of €129,99.

My app is running version 16.7 for Android.

Could it have something to do with using € instead of $?
Or some kind of setting or bug that results in the app not fetching the latest settings and thus using default behaviour?

    Thanks

    Hi there @martienskie ??

    Hi Pepe,

    Thanks for your reply.

I already contacted app support a while ago around the same time I began this post. Meanwhile, they’ve let me know that they found the bug that caused this tax calculation problem and that they would include the patch into the next update.

    Thanks for your help!
