I’m doing SEO for a workers’ compensation client with pay version of Yoast SEO.

How does Yoast SEO handle apostrophes in keyphrases and synonyms? Does it ignore them?

Here’s the issue. The correct spelling is “workers’ compensation lawyer” (with apostrophe.) Yet, most anyone doing a search will search for “workers compensation lawyer” or “workers comp lawyer.”

The text on the website always has the apostrophe. Do I need the apostrophe in keyphrases and synonyms or is it ignored, so it doesn’t matter.

    Thanks!

Both version of the keyphrase (‘workers’ compensation’ and ‘workers compensation’) would be recognized by the SEO analysis as the same keyphrase. As for Google results, the punctuation would not have an impact on the results unless the inclusion of the punctuation significantly affects the meaning. You can read more information on this here.

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

I’m totally new to posting for help on a forum. So I hope I’m writing in the right place. Regarding Keyphrases I’m having a real problem with something similar. My Yoast states I have 0% of my keyphrase within my opening text. But it is actually there in front of me. The text is identical, and it doesn’t seem to matter how many times I mess around and put it in, it still says 0%. What would be the reason for this and how can I sort it so really improve my SEO optimisation?

    Thanks so much.
