API to import/update events?

Hello,

we have beend using event manager for the past few years with good success.

Since we now a backend system where all the event details (and much more) are managed, we are interested to send/update the data from that backend into the event manager on wordpress.

Is there an API available or what woul dbe the cleanest way to do it?

I see db tables named em_events, em_locations and em_meta which might be what we need to update, but direct DB manipulation is known to break after an update of event manager.
