Hi. Our site is hosted at Pantheon and uses an offsite CDN and some domain rerouting. We occasionally are running into issues where the Pardot plugin cannot login, and ends up churning out hundreds of thousands of API requests trying to do so, and subsequently maxes out our API limit. The result of this is that the site then crashes because Pardot can’t login or load forms.

I am not sure why it doesn’t handle this gracefully, but that seems to be what is happening. As soon as I disable the Pardot plugin, the site will load again, presumably because the API hammering is no longer occurring. The only telltale signs we have are that our API log is maxed out, with numbers like 250K requests, which is well beyond our usage limit.

Have you seen this before, and can you shed any light on what might be happening here? It works fine most of the time, but we’ve been caught out several times for this.

Also, not sure, but it seems related to this:

    Thanks

Thanks, @efishinsea. I’m not sure what’s causing the initial API spike, but the plugin behavior sounds like what was reported in that GitHub issue.

    I’m looking into it now.

Version 1.4.13 of the plugin should address this more gracefully.
