For more than a year, the plugin was working flawlessly. Then it just stopped working. A test of the API key found a problem with it. So I made a new API key and restricted it to the various APIs and pasted it into the plugin settings.

I hit “test API key” and it comes back green, saying “API Key Perfect”. But the maps are not showing on Google or Chrome.

I have no idea what to do next to troubleshoot this?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response.

Which version of the plugin do you use? The latest version of the plugin is 4.4.5, please use the latest version if not.

Please Navigate to Plugin Settings -> Include Scripts in the Header.

Then check is map loading perfectly or not, please confirm with us.

    Thanks

Thanks for trusting our plugin and services. Feel free to ask for more assistance if needed in future too.

We have heard back from Siteground, whose Optimizer plugin conflicted with WP Maps. As you’d expect, they pointed the blame directly at you. But, you might consider the following for an update to your plugin.

I investigated the case and it appears that the issue was caused incompatibility between the “WP Maps” plugin and the following SiteGround Optimizer front-end optimizations:

    Combine JavaScript Files
    Defer Render-blocking JavaScript

Regrettably, “WP Maps” does not appear to be importing their scripts into WordPress properly and our plugin is not able to detect them. Due to that there are no scripts listed in the “Exclude from {front-end optimization}” drop-down menus for both front-end optimizations. Since there was no easy way to exclude the “WP Maps” plugin scripts I went ahead and deactivated both front-end optimizations. After this I confirmed that the issue was resolved.

Now, if you insist on enabling the front-end optimizations of the SiteGround Optimizer plugin you will need to check which scripts are imported into WordPress from the “WP Maps” plugin and then use the custom filters to exclude them. The following article can help you with this:
