    I have BP on a couple of my sites but the last update has created this issue on two of my newer sites. I install the plugin and activate then go to the primary page and the page looks all wrong the get API Key link is not accessible and nothing happens. If I click on protect my site it acts as if there is an API key in the box and gives the green bar at the top but the plugin still thinks there is no API Key. Please see link for image of page. Email removed for security reasons.

    Hey there!

    Can I just get a little information about what system you’re using? Are you on a mac/pc, and what browser / version of that browser are you using? (firefox, chrome, internet explorer, etc?)

    Thanks, I’m on a PC using win7 I’m on IE-11. I do have Firefox never thought to try it on that.

    That did it, I used Firefox and it worked fine, At least now you know there is an issue with either Win7 or IE-11. Appreciate the quick response!

    I’m having this same issue on a PC using Chrome. Firefox did not help either. BP acts as if it is working and has a key but I don’t have one. I tried to reinstall but that did not work either. What should I clean out of the database so that BP doesn’t know it has previously been installed?

    w00dyt,

    It sounds like your site is having trouble connecting to our API. There could be many reasons for that.
    We are going to release an update that has a debug tool. Hopefully that will give us some better insight.
    Do you know if you have other security plugins, or a firewall on your server?

    Hi,
    I’m having exactly the same problem, BP doesn’t give the chance to “request” an API Key. If I remove the plugin and re-install, no difference.
    I’ve had a look at the debug link and here is the last response:
    Last Response (raw):
    WP_Error Object
    (
    [errors] => Array
    (
    [http_request_failed] => Array
    (
    [0] =>

    • error:0D0890A1:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_verify:unknown message digest algorithm
    • )
      )
      [error_data] => Array
      (
      )
      )
      Last Response (pretty):
      Array
      (
      [status] => ok
      [math] => 1
      )

      I’ve done some digging and it looks like this could be an openSSL problem, My server hasn’t been updated in a while.
      Could that be the issue?

      Cheers

    Paul,

    I have seen that error in the past, and updating to the latest version of OpenSSL usually fixes it.
