API key not OK, your key seems to be correct, but seems to have exceeded

No idea how YouTube validates keys I’m afraid Tom, but if everything works I would turn a blind eye to the notification? ??

well, LYTE is working, but there indeed is a problem with the API key as the video title is not being displayed (and the title is one of the things fetched using the YT API) .. :-/

Ive tried a key that I use with another plugin, and Ive made a new key just for this plugin, both report the same thing, my quota use is at 0% im nowhere even near quota use.

Afraid I have no idea what’s going on godsdead; LYTE when testing the key returns that message when the YouTube API returns values ‘limitExceeded’, ‘quotaExceeded’, ‘rateLimitExceeded’ or ‘userRateLimitExceeded’ ..

What is the API URL it calls to return the JSON? So I can manually put in the URL with my API key into my browser to test keys.

I searched the github for “gdata.” and found this old API url that no longer works

I edited my previous message, not sure if you saw the old API urls I found in the code!

I did see, but those URL’s are not used to do the actual calls to the YouTube API ??

I tried with an entirely separate google account and fresh APIs, the same API response.
You may want to check you have the correct API url.

I think I figured it out, I enabled the “YouTube oEmbed API” which required its own Key, I loaded that API url with that key and it worked, even tho its the v3 api request, but in Lyte it gave an API error, it no longer said it was limited.
Then I tried my old API again and it worked!

Something about needing to activate that YouTube oEmbed API and populate the url once did it? No idea, its googles end.

I still dont get names under videos tho ??

indeed, I’ve spent quite some time on this myself already and the the YouTube API indeed remains a black box to me as well, sometimes blocking access without a clear reason :-/

and if you clear all caches (LYTE’s + any page cache you might have)?

Tried that! the only way I can get anything to display under is by checking “Add links below the embedded videos?” which displays “Watch this video on YouTube.” but not the video name.
