API Error when attempting to generate

When ever I attempt to generate a short URL, I receive the following error:
There was an error contacting the YOURLS API. Please try again.
This worked fine prior and we are still able to login to our individual YOURL install and designate short URL’s. I updated YOURL’s to 1.6 and reset the cookiekey. I then updated the API signature key. Still no good. Just the error above. Is there a way to look at the error log? Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
