    Hello,

I have installed the plugin and connected my website via the plugin. I am using it primarily for BLC 2.0. However when I try to run a scan on BLC 2.0, it says API Error: Too many server errors

Please let me know what is the issue. Do I need to add your ip address to my security whitelist or something else?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @hbk747

Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

I checked your website and the IP is returning from Cloudflare, our logs show a 403 which is a forbidden status, could you please as the initial test allow the WPMU DEV IPs following this guide https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/wpmu-dev-ip-addresses/#cloudflare

Once done, give it a new scan attempt.

Let us know the result you got.
    Best Regards

I added the ip address of blc and then scans are now working but it does not show any results. I ran the scan twice and it shows no results – as in it does not mention the total number of links and the broken links.

I have been noticing a lot of negative feedback for blc 2.0 but I remain hopeful that you guys will iron out the kinks. For now I have no choice but to go back to the blc 1.0 which is marred with many false positives.

    Hi @hbk747

Sorry to hear that, wouldn’t you mind, please connect your site back to HUB and letting us know to run a new scan from our end to verify some logs?

Let us know once it is done.
    Best Regards

    Hi @hbk747

I checked the logs and the error we see it “Scan timed out”. Please refer to 15 Timeout here:
    https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/broken-link-checker/#broken-link-status-codes

Each scan on your site takes over 1h and we have some limitations in this matter. The scan will time out and stop further scanning after one hour. that’s because there’s something obviously not going well on your site -> possibly a traffic peak or a performance issue with your site, or something else of the sort like too many URLs to scan – and we don’t want to contribute to the problem. In the end, we abort the scan so it doesn’t put additional unwanted strain on your server.

With BLC 2.0 you can still use old BLC as it is still part of the core. Please visit this URL in your admin:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=view-broken-links

and follow guide from modal popup to switch to old BLC engine and see if that helps.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hello,

My website ranking on Gtmetrix is an A. The site’s speed is good. I use wp rocket and the website is pretty optimized. Also on BLC 2.0 it is advertised that BLC 2.0 will scan unlimited pages/posts. It also says “Any site, Any size” so I am very perplexed why you would say that after an hour we give up.

Lastly it should not be an issue of traffic spike as I have kept the schedule of the scan at a time where hardly anyone is on the website.

    Waiting for your reply.

    Hi @hbk747

    Hope you are doing fine.

Effectively, you’ve done a very good job optimizing the site and the performance looks well. Therefore, this is not really a matter of performance, but amount of content. I see the site has several articles and information which BLC is trying to get through. This large amount of information is what seems to cause BLC to timeout and stopping the scan to avoid adding load to the site.

Our team is already working on improving this and the solutions may come in future releases as service improvements. While this improvement gets implemented, you can still use the old version of the plugin instead. Please keep an eye on the new releases of the plugin as they are focused on improving the process.

    Kind regards

    Luis
