I have contacted USPS to request for access, and received a service request number.

I am getting the following message after I added the password “API Authorization failure. User [ my user name] is not authorized to use API RateV4.

I mostly ship 6×8 kraft envelope and most of everything I ship is under 2 ounces. We want open our store up internationally and we need rates to do that.
I would like to get this resolved as soon as possible, so I can start shipping.

    Hi @tarzine,

After registering in USPS Web Tools API Portal, you should receive an email from the USPS with the following request:

API access and permissions are added separately after registration. To obtain these permissions, contact [email protected].

Our plugin uses the following APIs:

    • RatesV4
    • IntlRateV2

These should be included in the response along with the details of the account for which you are requesting the access.

If you encounter any difficulties, please let us know we will be happy to help.

    Best regards,
    Tomek

I seem to be having issues with the same thing. I even contacted USPS through the given email address. They said that the permissions were granted, but I’m still getting the same error. Any ideas?

    Hi @reddrikc,

Since USPS has confirmed the data, can you try to save the plugin settings again? Has the status of the API connection been updated?

    Best regards,
    Tomek

    Hey @tograczyk,
I communicated with USPS again and it seems like the problem has been resolved. Thank you for your help!

Yes, that API has been resolved, but I am still not see any rate options at checkout.

I am actually getting the same issues.
?is not authorized to use API RateV4

I contacted USPS and they just keep sending me this which I already said the plugin I was using and the APIs I would need listed above. They sent me the same message a second time as a response. Frustrated is an understatement, why did they make this so much more complicated than it used to be. I never had issues historically doing this.

@tarzine Thank you for the confirmation.

Did you add the USPS shipping method to your WooCommerce shipping zones after getting the API connection?

https://octolize.com/docs/article/usps-adding-the-usps-live-rates-shipping-method/ – How to add the USPS Live Rates shipping method?

Could you please send a screenshot of your shipping zones and USPS plugin settings?

@jcapehart2 There have indeed been changes in the way you can access the API. We are in contact with the USPS and have adapted our plugin to their new guidelines.

We will try to influence the access process to make it easier, but at this point, I recommend contacting them again. From the messages of other users, I gather that this eventually helped.

    Best regards,

Oh man, here we go again. I am getting this error message again “API Connection StatusAPI Connection StatusAPI Authorization failure. User [API USER ID] is not authorized to use API RateV4.

Other users mentioned earlier, the need to contact the USPS to access the API.

Our plugin uses the following APIs:

    • RatesV4
    • IntlRateV2

Have you confirmed the access with the USPS at [email protected]?

We are working on updated documentation of the onboarding process in the plugin to make the process easier.

Ok. The API is now connected.

However, I am not seeing any “method settings”, “fall back cost” or anything.

    Troubleshooting steps

I deactivated all the plugins. And enabled on Woocommerce and the plugin. Nothing is working as expected. I am experiencing multiple problems with this plug-in, I’m almost ready to give up. It definitely does not instill confidence with the paid plug-in.

    Hi @tarzine,

I sincerely apologize that the process of accessing the API was difficult, and the setup was not easier.

You sent a screenshot earlier, which does not show the added USPS shipping method in the shipping zones. Could you please confirm that you have added the USPS Live Rates shipping method in your store?

To display USPS rates in your store, please add USPS Live Rates shipping method to your shipping zones:

Please review if rates are available after adding USPS Live Rates methods.

Screenshots of the configuration, and the live rates are still not showing up.

I cannot rely on your plug-in. I’ve disabled the flat rate shipping method and your plug-in is still not working.

I disabled the flat rates and only used the plugin method.

When I enabled the flat rate

Unfortunately, due the complexity of your plug-in, I have to shop for another plug-in that actually works.

I am happy to troubleshoot more, so devs can better understand the problem.
