API and Query Limitations

  • First, GREAT plugin. Tested locally with no problems.

    One important question is API/queries/external services.

    As I understand, with Openstreetmap (at least queries by address) users of the plug-in have to deal with “Nominatim Usage Policy” including “No heavy uses (an absolute maximum of 1 request per second)” and “the sum of traffic by all your users should not exceed the limits”.

    Could someone please:

    1. List all known limits so that it’s clear what limitations we are dealing with?
    2. Tell if there are any known ways to minimize these limitations?

    What kind of service do you plan to run? Typically you have a few addresses and their data will be cached. You usually won’t have that many queries.
