Looks like a great plug-in, I hope I’ll be able to use it!

In the description and multiple support threads you state that there are no API limitations, since you are using OSM. At the same time, OSM Tile Usage Policy states that “Heavy use (e.g. distributing a heavy-usage app that uses tiles from openstreetmap.org) is forbidden without prior permission from the Operations Working Group”. Nominatim Usage Policy, if that’s where the live search comes from, has “No heavy uses (an absolute maximum of 1 request per second)”, etc.

Could you please explain the following:

    1. What external services are used in your plug-in and for what?
    2. Map tiles and live search should have some limitations, how do you deal with that?
    3. Are there any limits on the number of markers/locations that can be displayed on the map, eg. one million is likely to create problems?

I’m interested to add this plug-in to a live site. It would be great if you could reply.

    Thanks again for your work!

    Hi @userlogin,

    1. The map tiles use various prividers (depending on the map style). The address search uses OSM as provider.
    2. Every request is done directly without a service in between. My plugin does not limit the requests. It may happen that a very heavy usage leads to errors in responses. But so far I’m not aware of that.
    3. Some users already have a couple of thousand locations on a OUM map – without know issues. However – if you look forward to millions of locations you better should deploy a custom solution that fits these needs.

I’m not sure if I should set limits on my end (the plugin) regarding the usage of the APIs, but I will do further research on this.

    Best regards,
    Daniel
