AP Responsive Div's have 100% width

So I noticed when I try to view my site making the browser window smaller, the corresponding Div’s don’t fill in 100%. I made each div have a width of 100% to fill the page width. Some will overlap eachother when making the browser window smaller. Is there a way I can adjust the so called “container” div for word press to auto or something for height difference? https://www.perhamlife.com

The slideshow div is position:relative and the text and images on top are position:absolute. If I view my page on a screen with a lower res the footer also gets covered and doesn’t stay down below. I assume this has something to do with the positioning.
