Hey guys, terrific plugin, I installed it onto this site a number of years ago. Clients reached out to me recently to report that the Genesis Testimonials Slider by WPStudio is no longer displaying as a slider, but as a list of testimonials instead. They can’t remember when it stopped working. The original site was built on WP 5.2, and the slider still works on my archived dev site. Their Live Site is running WP 5.6 and it’s clearly broken.
    1. Updating to WP 5.8 does not resolve the issue.
    2. Deactivating AO allows the slider to resume as normal.

Any ideas for me to follow up on?

    Regards,
    Paul

First and foremost try to identify what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be ??

Thanks Frank, sorry, I should have mentioned it before; it’s a JS issue.

I just tried excluding the scripts –
    wp-content/plugins/wpstudio-testimonial-slider/assets/js/lightslider.js, and
wp-content/plugins/wpstudio-testimonial-slider/assets/js/lightslider.min.js, but it didn’t resolve the issue.

Unchecking “Aggregate all linked JS-files to have them now render blocking” allows the slider to operate as normal.

    OK, so:
    1. what JS errors are show on the browser console when things are broken?
    2. does excluding wp-content/plugins/wpstudio-testimonial-slider/ help?

Hi Frank, unfortunately JS is not my forte’.

The console is showing 3 errors –

? Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at lightslider.min.jsver=0c4dcf57b7db5e45278350a7ed8c4920:1

? Uncaught ReferenceError: $ is not defined at (index):56

? Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at (index):56`

ah, in that case I assume you removed jquery.min.js from the comma-separated JS optimization exclusion list, can you add it again?

    did re-adding jquery.min.js work PC? ??

    Thanks Frank,

I don’t recall removing anything from the exclusion list, but jquery.min.js was certainly not in there. I just added –
    ? wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.min.js

The slider is now working again.
