Anyway to make Book Review the default Post

  • Hi There, absolutely love the plugin, but have one problem with it. Because the “Books” are not “Posts” they don’t show up on my site unless you type in the url of the /book/”page”. How do I make the Books show up as “Posts”so they will show up in chronological order in my feed?

    I don’t know how to make the books show up as “Posts” but you can get the latest book reviews to show up in your sidebar by adding the Recent Book Reviews widget.

    I also have them show up on my static home page using the shortcode;
    [book-reviews count=3 covers=true]

    Thanks for chiming in Kevin. To your original question @benneely, there are ways of adding other post types to the main posts feed in code but “books” are not “posts” and were never intended to take the place of posts. If you want books to display on your homepage, for example, instead of posts, you can easily create a static page, throw the shortcode on there, and set that to be your home page. The idea is to use the existing archive pages within WordPress to take care of the book review listings, though, so, at least in theory, you would create a custom menu item to the book review archive page, e.g. yourdomain.com/book-review/.
