• Hi all,

I have had over 100 new members sign up in the past 2 1/2 weeks, which is a big deal considering I had just 89 coming into September.

One of my friends was one of those signups, and he told me it took him over 20 minutes to receive the confimation email with password. Many of the people who visit my site are interested in asking a question at the time of signup, and I think because it takes so long for the password to arrive they move on elsewhere.

Anyone else experience this problem? And if so is there a fix so that it sends the confirmation email as quickly as it does the lost password email? The few users that have used the lost/reset password feature get emailed immediately.

    Thanks,
    KJ

  • Once the password has been sent out by WordPress (which usually takes less than 1 second), WP has no control over the speed of email delivery. That’s down to your hosts SMTP and/or your users’ POP mail service.

ok thanks so the issue isn’t on the wordpress side.

Has anyone developed a plugin that allows users to choose their password at the time of account creation? Seems to me that would allow them to log in without having to check for the email
