I’m new to this and am working on building a WordPress site… using it more or less as a CMS for a set of press releases.
I want to populate the site with press releases going back to the beginning of the year. The problem everything I am putting in today is of course being archived as March 20, today’s date. Is there anyway to say that these are actually older press releases (they date to before site creation). Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for your help to a newbie!

When you are writing the post, before you publish click the “Edit” link beside “Publish immediately” on the right and change the time-stamp. If you have already published the post, just edit it and do the same.

    Grazie FIGARO!
That is so simple and obvious now that you have pointed it out! I am loving WordPress!

Yea, it’s pretty cool isn’t it? You’re welcome.

Thrilled with it! Now I need to get a good book… I’ve been just dabbling away so far…. after years of hardcoding html…I am a dinosaur…I go back to html in a notepad, and after that HotDog Pro..(if you are old enough to remember that).

Got another quick question for you since you are so helpful! My posts all say “admin” after them… I’m using the magazine template… any idea how to get rid of that, or have something else — like the date — show up? The other thing is I want my posts to use the summary statement I’ve been diligently putting in – and instead the short summaries seem to just be the first several lines of text, whatever they are…
