Anyone using 2.7 and Godaddy and site runs slow after upgrade?
-
Hello,
I am currently running WordPress 2.6
Does 2.7 fix any security vulnerabilities?
I am very hesitant to upgrade to 2.7 because of the multitude of “slowness” issues coupled with no apparent fix to this issue.
Is anyone using Godaddy on Linux (shared hosting) and if so, have you upgraded to 2.7 from 2.6 and found that it is running slow?
Thanks for posting your experiences…

well l am with aey web hosting now and never had a slow down issue, works perfect now and start to love wordpress more and more.
Enjoyed everyone’s thoughts on this issue – I thought I’d way in. I was experiencing the exact same things…. I’ve tried everything to fix it – and you know what did it?
Switching hosting providers.
After working hard to get GoDaddy’s customer service to help (to no avail) I just gave up on them.
GoDaddy has terrible shared server environments – and is awful for hosting wordpress. I highly recommend switching over to a better hosting system – I’m using Mosso, and my blog (same blog that godaddy blamed as the problem) now loads in no time flat.
Way faster than the 30 seconds it was taking on GoDaddy!
pkbrett,
Sorry to hear you didn’t get the attention you deserved. We definitely want to work with our customers to resolve their issues. I sent you an email to learn more.If anyone else experiences site slowness we would like to help. We will need the following information in order to investigate. Please provide us with:
-the domain name
-details on how often the slowness occurs or if it is intermittent. If it’s intermittent, please include specific times it occurs. In addition a traceroute would be very helpful. These details should be sent to [email protected].
Thanks,
Go Daddy HostingSo I have read this entire forum and don’t see any solutions… just a bunch of people seeing the same problem. I have been with godaddy for over a year (windows hosting) with no issues. Decided to move a WP blog over to GD hosting but first had them switch me to linux. Setup the blog and now it is unbearably slow. I cannot even maintain FTP connections anymore. I have called support and all I get is “everything is working great on our end” and “there is nothing we can do” and “it is WordPress that is causing the problem”.
I hate the idea of switching hosts but I cannot take this anymore. Anyone find a solution? My site is https://www.inspirationalparenting.com.
I know it has something to do with WordPress because I also host 3 other sites on the same webserver and they are fine. One is https://www.completereviews.net. They do not use WordPress. FTP is consistenly a problem with all sites however. Slowness is constant though worse at times. I would never say that it is even close to an acceptable speed. In fact, I just got a warning from Google that my site was too slow!
HELP!!!!
Appreciate the details. We will take a look and get in touch. If you can email a traceroute to [email protected], that would also be helpful.
Go Daddy Hosting
I’m having the same issues on 2 of my sites hosted on GoDaddy.
https://www.bladedanceguild.com and https://www.bobbiewilsonca.com.
One has WordPress 2.6 and the later has 2.7.
I expect bladedanceguild to be a trifle slow as it’s parsing out a couple of RSS feeds. bobbiewilsonca.com shouldn’t have any trouble at all as it makes no outside connection.
If you can help, please let me know.
Thanks

Hey GD hosting.
I am the guy who started this thread many months ago.
I was able to escalate the issue all the way up to the
office of the VP. We had a 45 minute discussion and there
really was no set resolution. This was after he directed
my site to be moved towards a new server. For the past 2-3 months, my site has been loading atrociously
slow….I have followed all of tech supports instructions and
my site is still atrociously slow.I am even using WordPress super cache and that is not helping it out at all.
Tech support could not offer any other explanation than they
looked at the server I’m on and told me there was “a bit of
latency” but it was “well within specs”.I have even asked about a dedicated server, but when I mentioned
this to the VP he told me that my site is not big enough to warrant
a dedicated server and I do not consume enough bandwidth as well.I am running the latest version of WordPress, all of my plugins are Kosher and not doing anything out of the ordinary.
I currently have a trouble ticket out now, but the last response was essentially the tech throwing his arms up in the air and telling me “you need to make sure you blog is optimized”. My blog is optimized (to the point where it could do a return trip from here to Mars) and there still is no resolution and my site as of the last 2 weeks is taking upwards of 20 seconds to load.
Please help, I have been a loyal Godaddy customer now for well
over 5 years and would hate to have to switch providers. Is this a shared server issue? Is this a database server issue?
I have already run a traceroute and that proved nothing. I am on FIOS with a 20/5 connection.I would apreciate it if you could just level with us because after reading the above comments it seems as if the Godaddy shared hosting environment is not for WordPress sites that are anything above the little old lady from Pasadena uploading pictures of her puppies to show her grandkids.
Thanks
edit: Can some mod please delete the last two posts? They were not showing up after I posted it so I accidentally posted it 3 times in a row.
Hey GoDaddy,
I’ve also been a loyal member for years now. But this slow wordpress/hosting issue is a problem. I decided to email GoDaddy yesterday with a link to this post and the problems I am having. The issue is, my static content loads fast, but my dynamic (php) takes forever. I even installed a fresh copy of WordPress and the php file (not the static content) still takes at least 5 seconds to load.
Upon contacting GoDaddy, they informed me that the server was working fine and the problem must be with my code (WordPress’) or my database communication (and they provided me a link to MySQL’s page). So I decided to run
passthru("ps aux")
to see what might be slowing down the server. Apparently, the ONLY php process is taking ~97-99% of the CPU(s). Apparently someone is running bad code, or there are a LOT of people and traffic on this machine.Of course, when I replied to the support request with this information, they gave me roughly the same response (your images and css load fast, so it must be a problem with your php code and MySQL communication.. here’s a link to MySQL optimization).
Hopefully, the GoDaddy support user on this WordPress thread can get back to me and help figure this out.

Thanks,
St. JohnLet me put in a “metoo” for the GDHosting super help! I spent some time with the ticketed format of support and the site is still slow running the latest WP on GDHosting.
Site is: chudel.org
Performance is always slow but sometimes very much so. I installed Hyper-Cache and it helps a very tiny bit. Images load without problem so I am suspicious of a PHP performance or DB connection lag. Yslow does not indicate any timing out links.

GDHosting – so cool that this thread is running ??
Ah ha! So glad I found this thread. We’ve had MAJOR slow loading times at TravelingMamas.com since we upgraded to 2.7.1 but had experienced slow loading before upgrades also.
Our hosting plan renews next month, so let’s see if we can get the problem fixed or if we need to switch hosting plans.
Sending an email to GoDaddy.
