• If you look at the page source of this page, you’ll see “<style>page_item page-item-5</style>” at the top.

It’s jacking up my page in IE (which I don’t care about) but I’d still like to find out what it generating this. Now the store I’m using is the Shopp plugin. I’ve already been around the block with them but they say it’s not their code, so that brings me back to WordPress. I think something may be happening within WordPress that’s clashing with Shopp. Any help would be awesome. I love this community.

  • Have you tried deactivating the Shopp plugin and checking if the line at the top disappears?

Yea, it’s still there when I deactivate the plugin.

What other plugins are you running? Try deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

The plot thickens…It appears it’s not a plugin doing it. I deactivated all of them and it was still there. What could be adding that code ABOVE the header.php file?

Try switching to the default theme to see if the problem is theme-specific?

It was a blank theme to begin with and I know for a fact it wasn’t there in the beginning. I didn’t check for a while and lo and behold it showed up.

The one thing I have discovered is that “page_item page-item-?” is an automatically generated (by WordPress using “wp_list_pages”) class given to certain menu items on my main navigation bar. I tried deleting the code that generates the menu bar both on the top and bottom of the site, simultaneously even. ARRRGH!

I don’t see why it’s being placed in <style> tags though and put above my DOCtype. All throughout my store it’s like this and breaks up the thing in IE. Man it’s driving me absolutely nuts. I’ve got a headache from it and everything.

Try switching to the default theme to confirm that it’s a theme template issue.
