Currently, I am using the free version of this theme on a client site; however, I am having to also use the Enable jQuery Migrate helper plugin to continue use. According to www.remarpro.com, this theme has not been updated in over 2 years. We would really like to continue using the theme, but if no updates are coming, we need to know.

Already starting to look at some other themes. If anyone knows something, please let us know. Thank you!

  • I don’t think so. I researched as far as I can. I can not find the company or any of its principles. I looked on sLinkedIn, Facecrook and other sites and there is nothing about the company anywhere.

    We all got left hanging.

I’m trying to decide if I’m ready for a new theme and having to rebuild two websites. :/

Appreciate your response! It is too bad. My client’s design is really looking nice; however, I’m sure it will be incompatible eventually. Thinking now is a great time to encourage my client to buy a premium theme from now on. At least the support will be a lot better!

My client has/had the Pro version of Athena – but the same problem. Buying a premium theme does not prevent this happening – if a company is not updating their themes, you are lost.

We are in the process of re-building the theme with a child theme of Siteorigin Corp – but you have to make a lot of adjustments and build the home page from scratch, as obviously the customizer does not have the same items/widgets.

I used the plugin WP Downgrade to rollback my WordPress installation to version 5.4.4, and everything in the Athena Pro theme started working again (well, at least all the problems I noticed: the mobile menu, the Jumbotron, and the testimonials).

Depending on what other plugins and/or other customizations you’ve made to the theme, your results may vary. If you try it you’ll probably want to backup your site first at the very least.

This workaround won’t work forever, as your plug-ins, and perhaps WordPress itself, will probably stop supporting older builds at some point, but it will at least buy some time for whatever is left of SmartCat to provide a remedy, or more likely, to find another theme. For a site like mine that is basically static in perpetuity, my hope is I can ride it out for a few more years.
