    Hi there,

I’d like to give AVIF images a try but am wondering if there are any known conflict issues using another plugin to generate Webp images.

Ideally I’d show AVIF to compatible browsers and Webp to any that aren’t compatible with AVIF.

Is this possible and if so is there a Webp plugin I should use for confirmed compatability?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi japenz,

Sorry for late replay, it had some issues with autoptimize regarding template redirection hook from wordpress.

I would not recommend this plugin for that special case. I’m taking you special case as feature to include in upcoming versions.

    Regards,
    Pijush G

let me know if I can help with working around that conflict @pijush_gupta ??

    Hi @japenz ,

I have added auto WEBP conversion on the fly for browsers that are yet to support AVIF. Please update to the latest version to have the same.

    Regards,

    Pijush G.

    Hi @optimizingmatters ,

Will contact you soon. That would be really helpful. I’m a one-man team, with 6 days 9-5 job. Please bear with me.

I’m using this plugin to generate my WebP images but I don’t want to pay for their subscription to enable AVIF images too.

So I’m wondering the same thing: would it work to have both WebP Converter for Media and Avif Express on the same site without conflicts?

Thanks for your awesome plugin! Have a nice day.

    Hi @wpnpc420 ,

    Thank you for contacting me.

As the original author of this thread @japenz having a similar situation.
As a solution, I have added WebP on-the-fly conversion as a fallback for the browsers(Edge) that don’t support Avif Images.

Please do remember, to have that feature, it requires a hosting capable of generating webp images via Image Magic.

In cases where the server doesn’t support Avif or Webp conversion, it will serve the standard image.
