I code by hand and never use a WYSIWYG editor. So when I moved from 1.5.x to 2.0.5 I was dismayed.

Yes I see it has Alt-e so you can edit the code but I want the code to show in the Post editor.

I went into Writing Options and unchecked “Users should use the visual rich editor by default” and that didn’t change it.

Is there a way to make the Write Post field show only HTML code and not graphics? If not is it possible to make a plugin to do that?

  • Turning off the visual rich editor should remove the WYSIWYG function, and simply provide some simple javascript quicktag buttons.

Are you sure you saved the changes to the user profile?

You definitely need to access the Users/Your Profile page, and deselect the checkbox (scroll to the very bottom, far left) – this deactivates the wysiwyg for any given user (the “default” option doesn’t really do a whole lot).

If you want NO users to have the wysiwyg, you probably will have to edit each profile as the admin; or figure out how to hack core to fix it for this version (hacking core works for only the current version; next upgrade you have to rehack.)

The fact that the wysiwyg is the default is a very poor decision on the devs’ parts. You could let them know you don’t agree.

You got it. Send me your PayPal email to bob at bobmutch dot come and I will send you a tip.

Well it would be nice if this function was more front and center.

Good job I came here and asked you. I asked 2 WP experts so far and neither of them knew and one coder was ready to write me a plugin to fix it. LOL. To funny.

Um. Nope. No tip needed. I do my best to help those who have problems, ask politely for help after searching, and are confused by some of the “non-obvious” intricacies within wp.

I just hope someday someone can help me out similarly when 2 years of wp use still leaves me scratching my head and thinking “What the….?”

Best to you…. and pass it on when you can!

    Thanks!

Hi, I’m wanting to use html as well, but not one of the options mentioned above is available to me. I’m running WordPress 2.1.2.

Were all of these options removed?
