I have installed the Matomo WordPress plugin to test for the first time. Straight out of the box, any link that has the box and arrow icon (I assume this means open in new windows/tab) downloads the file instead of executing: /wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/index.php

The 2 links in the dashboard: Reporting & Tag Manager both download this file. Also, under Settings->Matomo Admin also downloads index.php.

The website and all other plugins work fine.

  • Hello @jspik

I would say this is a server misconfiguration: either your PHP module is not loaded or your PHP handler is not well-defined.
You should report this problem to your hosting provider.

    Hello @jspik

Any chances you read my previous comment?

    Hi Matt,

Yes, I read it, but I didn’t take any action. As I said, everything else is working perfectly, including all other plugins on the website. I have decided not to use Matomo as I do not have the time to debug this plugin.

If it helps any, I am using a self-managed Gridpane server. Perhaps there is a security feature blocking Matomo; I cannot be sure, but if there were a PHP issue, I would assume the PHP-based website would have more issues than just this.

Thank you for checking back – it is appreciated.

    Hi @jspik

    Sorry to see you leave.

If you decide to give another chance to Matomo, we’ll be definitively happy to help.

    Kind regards

    Mat
