• Hi,

I’m running WordPress on 2 clone sites.

The first one and original has been cloned and migrated to a new domain (so different url), anyhow we are keeping the first one till we are completely sure that the new site is ok, once the new site will be completely verified old site will be taken down.

Is there any issue with Google Analytics for doing that?

Should I update url in GA?

Or I better make a new GA item and import old site data?

    What should I do?

  • I think it’s a matter of personal preference with this question. If you have the current tracking code on multiple websites, it may throw off the reporting. If you don’t change the code you’d have to update the url for sure, but I would think making a new GA item would be the best route. I’m sure Google Analytics probably has more insight into this question on their site. Hope that helps.
