Wow! Thanks for such a fast and positive response. I’ve tested out the plugin (which I’ll confess I hadn’t done before since it was only for contact forms 7) and I think it could be exactly what we need for our project. Happy to pay for the pro version.
I understand it’s not a simple thing to knock out, but I’m wondering if this is something you will be doing in the short term. This is by far the only solution that is coming close to what we need for our current project.

Our specific use case is a spoken language learning forum where teachers start topics and then students record spoken responses. So we would need people who were making posts and responding to them to be able to post the regular text field to the forum along with an optional audio recording. That recording should then display on the front end to users who are reading/listening to the forum. That last bit is a little different from your existing plugin since I don’t think it has the functionality of displaying a player on the front end.
Thank you for considering this. In the hours of research I have done I can see that there have been at least a few poor souls like me trying to set this up. And so far I can’t see any other plugin that comes close to having a front end recorder for posts on bbPress.
