    I get this error https://www.loom.com/share/15ea8117c0da45ea9a4e2ef1cde99f25

I believe we had sitekit a few months back. It was conflicting with other things so they took it off.

The GTM container assigned at the time was [email protected] (gsuite email)

I since made GA, and GTM and ads account under [email protected]

We went to do the new coreytaylor gm on the site (without sitekit) and it was showing the iwealthre gtm and GA.

so we installed sitekit and connected [email protected] hoping to get rid of snippets

it got error. I then added coreytaylor to the user of iwealthre account. Still error

I reset sitekit and signed in with coreytaylor97, added GA, no problem, tried to add GTM and keep getting that error of the old GTM. We can’t find the snippet of code anywhere else.

I deleted the old GTM from iwealthre account. sitekit still wants the snippet off the site.

This is killing me, I need my ads running and I can’t get the coreytaylor97 GA GTM working until this code is found an off.

    Any ideas?
    thanks
    Corey

also deleted site kit 2 or 3 times and reinstalled, doesn’t help

I’ve been through DIVI (parent theme) and child theme files looking for snippet code, found nothing

Disabled and deleted a couple of “headers and footers” plugins in case they had residual code not seen in their settings.

    No result

    Still get
Error: We’ve detected there’s already an existing Tag Manager tag on your site (GTM-K9W73DC), but your account doesn’t seem to have the necessary access to this container. You can either remove the existing tag and connect to a different account, or request access to this container from your team.

These uninstalls reinstalls were done in an incognito chrome window

Hello @ctaylor97 and thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear that you are having issues connecting your Google Tag Manager account.

As the error message suggests, there is already an existing tag manager on your site which I presume was placed previously by somebody on the site. When viewing the source code I can see the two snippets referring to ‘GTM-K9W73DC‘.

These can be found in both the <head> and <body> tags and will need to be removed if you are now looking to use your other Google account which will have a different GTM code to the one already placed on the site. It looks like this was manually placed so will need to be manually removed.

You can check for these two snippets by going to Appearance > Theme Editor and check your header.php file. You should be able to find the two snippets and once removed and saved you should be able to connect to your Tag Manager in Site Kit.

Please let me know if you can’t locate the snippets here and we can look further into this.

@ctaylor97 thanks for trying this. It is possible that your theme or a plugin could be placing this code. To help see if this may be the case would you be able to provide your Site Health information or privately using this form.
