• I’ve been reading the excellent tutorials recommended here at tamba2.org.uk.
Tamba has a tutorial called “Moving – To a new domain name.
I have a brand new domain at Hostgator already spreaded and waiting for a WordPress installation.
I decided not to use Fantastico script, and follow the guides at Tamba instead, so I can learn how to do the installation from scratch.
Now I’m running WordPress at localhost with Xampp, and my question is:
Does that guide https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/ works for a “localhost to server” also ?

Thanks and I’m sorry if the question is too silly. ??

  • Yes it does (I wrote it)

Moving from any location to any new location means you need to alter:
    – the url’s in the actual posts if they reference a different location
    – the siteurl value
    – the home value

So you should be fine – and keeping the backups is always a good thing too.
