another exec() problem

    According to my host exec() is enabled. I was instructed to copy a php.ini file to a folder where I want this functionality so I copied the file to ewww-image-optimizer folder in plugins and ewww in wp-content. When I run <? phpinfo(); ?> there is nothing about exec() being disabled so in theory the ewww plugin should work, however, I still get the “EWWW Image Optimizer requires exec().” message. What can I do to fix it or ask the hosting to fix? What could be causing this if exec() appears to be working?

    plugins are loaded by wordpress core, so your php.ini must be in the root of your wordpress install

    Not at all. I host with ifastnet.com.
