• Hi guys,

My website (https://www.milkostoev.co.uk) was working perfectly fine, but now all I get is:

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

    Here is the story…

First, I’ve switched to JetPack (which comes with Gravatar) because of WordPress Stats, which needs to be connected to my wordpress.com account.
The next day, I signed up for a free blog for a friend of mine at wordpress.com although I’ve created completely new account there on her name, I did it while still logged in on my website.

Everything was ok, we were trying different themes, test posts etc.
The odd thing was that when I tried to reset my wordpress.com password I received an email with her username, and vice versa, when she tried she received an email with my username.

I’ve corrected here profile, to match her mail, her Gravatar account and so on. Then I told her to delete the test pages we created earlier and start uploading her own content. After that I clicked refresh on my website and I got ‘Error 310’. I can’t go straight to the login page either.

The sitestats of my wordpress.com account under ‘pages’ tab says:
    #319 (deleted)
    #353 (deleted)
    #348 (deleted)
    #359 (deleted)
    #311 (deleted)
    #338 (deleted)

Which makes me think, that somehow my website and her blog were connected, and by deleting her pages she also deleted mine. :/

    This is my .htaccess: https://pastebin.com/eCSvZM7D

Also, I don’t have the WPML plugin, mentioned in another thread on ‘Error 310’, nor ‘disable-canonical-redirects.php’.
When login co cpanel, all my data seems to be there.

    Well, this is it,
it would be awesome if you can help me fix it!
I can provide whatever additional information needed.

    Thanks in advance,

    Milko

  • I am experiencing a very similar situation.

After choosing to upgrade using the automated script, the blog working for 3 years is returning “Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects” on Chrome and similar errors on other browsers.

Install is on an SBS 2003 system which has had no configuration or system changes other than the WP upgrade.

I can access the dashboard directly but the blog will not display.

Searching posts here and globally, I have not found any responses which have proven helpful. I restored the WP and PHP folder from image backup but no change.

I am hoping this is an update issue and has already been documented but I have not been able to access it. Without any WP experience, I am basically dead in the water, drifting into the waterfall . .

Any help in resolving this issue would be very welcome.

    me, too…

I decided to write up a solution. It drove me crazy last weekend when I got into this problem. Hope it helps. Good luck!
