New ads aren’t showing anymore since a few days.

The emails don’t work anymore, so I tried to validate them within admin interface. But the ads aren’t showing though. I tried several times, and it finally worked but I think it’s still a new bug with the new version of wordpress.

Also, some ads that I have validated within the admin area are displaying a fake date. For example, the ad had been posted on March 28, and in the listing, it’s written March 23 !!!! As a result, the listing of the ads is messy because it’s not listed by date anymore.

This plug used to work fine before, I don’t know what happened recently.

    Hi spespam,

Sorry that you ran into issues here. It would really help to know a bit more here:

    – Version of AWPCP
    – Version of WP
    – What have you changed on your site in the last week? Plugin updates? Theme changes? Any PHP/WP upgrades?

No matter how small the change, anything you can remember would help.

Can you show me a screenshot of this issue:

The emails don’t work anymore, so I tried to validate them within admin interface. But the ads aren’t showing though. I tried several times, and it finally worked but I think it’s still a new bug with the new version of wordpress.

That sounds like a conflict of some sort. Have you changed themes or installed something new? Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with AWPCP, which may help pinpoint the issue: https://awpcp.com/forum/faq/how-to-test-for-plugintheme-conflicts/

Try that and report back with what you find.

I’m using the latest version of AWPCP with the latest version of WP (upgrades are automatic).

The only thing I have changed is that I chose to display 100 ads per page, instead of 10 (default).

As for the emails, it appears that it’s my whole site that doesn’t send any emails anymore, so I’m trying to solve it with my host.

As for the ads not displaying by date (remember this : https://www.alldeejay.com/temp/bug.JPG), I discovered that I have to validate each ad manually (temporary solution) by clicking on “MARK AS PAID”. This is really strange as posting ads on my website is totally FREE.

And I discovered that, the validated ads (“marked as paid”) appear on top (just like the latest ads), but with a DIFFERENT date. And the result is the mess that we can see here : https://www.alldeejay.com/temp/bug.JPG

Oh, and I don’t know if it’s important, but in the Facebook tab, I have this error :”Warning: curl_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in /var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin/includes/helpers/facebook.php on line 297

Also, I have changed twice the expiration date. I first put 180 days, then changed it to 365 days, and then again put it to 0 (zero) so that ads never expired. Is that bad and could explain the total mess when displaying ads ? Is there a way to correct this and make all actual ads never expire ? Because actually, the ads all have an expiration date (365 days) even if I set this parameter to zero one month ago.

You should still try the conflict test I suggest above. The curl error you’re seeing suggests that your web hosting service may not have the proper library settings to allow for every AWPCP function to work. Do you have it set to auto-post ads to Facebook when they are approved?

The ad expiration will only be “unlimited” when you set it to 0. However, this setting ONLY affects NEW ads, not existing ones. For those, you have to manually edit them to change their end date. That may explain some of the mess here–if you don’t want ads renewing, use 0 and then manually adjust existing ones to far, far in the future.

    1) I tried the test, but found no conflict between the other plugins.

    2) The curl error has been solved, it was a problem with my host. I did not use the auto-post ads to FB for now, as it’s still beta.

    3) I did change manually the expiration date for my existing ads. And I wanted my new ads to never expire, so I set the expiration to 0. However, the setting to zero does NOT affect new ads at all. They still have an expiration date (365 days).

OK–that might mean your ads are paid, not free.

Are you using fee plans to sell your ads (even at 0.00)? If so, that would explain why the setting change isn’t affecting new ads.

It may be more productive to take this conversation offline–contact me here with a link to this forum thread: https://awpcp.com/contact/ and we’ll keep talking about it.

No, I’m not using fee plans at all. I will send you the screenshots of my settings via your forum.

We’ll keep this in the email now to avoid confusion, OK?
