  • Do you have Allow anonymous event submissions set to No under Events > Settings > General > Event Submission Forms?

No, that’s set to Yes, as we need visitors to be able to send in events, just not publish them. As per documentation we expect them to be send in draft.

The other thing to check is that the user role for the Guest Default User under Events > Settings > General > Event Submission Forms doesn’t have publish_events, publish_recurring_events or publish_locations checked under Events > Settings > General > User Capabilities.

Ok, so we created a separate subscriber/user as per documentation and set EC to use that account as the anonomous event submitter. However on approaching the event submission page it claims that it doesnt have the right to ‘administer the event’. What gives?

Pretty sure there’s a capabilities issue here. Can you list – or link to a screenshot showing – all the checked capabilities for the user role assigned to the Guest Default User? Thanks.

    delete_events
    delete_recurring_events
    edit_locations
    edit_events
    edit_recurring_events
    manage_bookings
    read
    read_others_locations
    read_private_locations
    upload_event_images

    That looks ok.

Are you using the [event_form] shortcode in your page and are you sure that page hasn’t been assigned as one of the Events Manager pages (as the Manage Bookings page, for example)?

We have a page called ‘Meld een evenement aan (Notify us of an event)’ and that’s a sibling page of our Events page in the WordPress tree. It contains nothing but [event_form].

We have this page listed in settings under Other Pages > Front End Administration > Edit Event Page. (Exact terms may differ, we’re using a translated installation)

That looks like the problem. The event submission form needs to be on a separate page, one that’s not used for anything else.

So lifting it from the tree so it’s no longer a sibling should work?

yes, [event_form] should be different from frontend management page -> edit events page

Adapted the situation, first test succeeded. Told the client to test as well. Will mark as resolved when their test is successful as well. Thanks so far.

    Great. Thanks for the update.
