Hi, when selecting Anonymous or any other alternative display name, it still shows the customers/reviewers full name on the review.

So all new incoming reviews have the full name.

I have a staging site where I tested this as well. Please advise how to further investigate the issue and how to fix it.

    Best regards

@hamster2116 I assume that you should have a link to an old aggregated review form with a problem. How else you could confirm that the issue with old reviews is not resolved?

@chopperstwisted that for sharing links but these aren’t links to an aggregated review form. Please refer to this solution article from our support portal for information about aggregated review forms: What is an Aggregated Review Form?

So you’re asking us to send you the emailed link that your plugin sends the customer? This will tell you whether the customer chose to disclose their full name or anonymous in the review? Just to confirm, the product review links I sent are confirmed to not display their full name but these are still showing the full name.

@cusrev Link to aggregated form with problem

The reviewer picked only first name but on the review (here: https://url.dev/m/t6v5wpg/ ) it was full name – please note later it was manually edited by admin to “First name + First letter of last name”.
I hope this information is sufficient. Maybe because it was manually edited, that’s why it is not changing from the update.
There a couple other cases like this where we manually fixed the reviewer names for privacy. Also, many chose to display the full name intentionally so that does not count. Anyways I’m glad it is fixed for future reviews.

I think this is what you’re looking for. This is a review that was previously submitted and as you can see the name was chosen as first with the last initial. Then looking at the review on the product page you will see that it shows the full name. https://quickforget.com/s/e998ea24c322b077b3092f804a58de91dbe6768e4f19487e

@hamster2116 thanks for providing additional information. I re-submitted the aggregated review form with a display name = first name and see that it was updated on the product page correctly (the display name used to be first name + an initial of the last name before I re-submitted the form).

It suggests that the bug is resolved for old review forms created before the version 5.8.0 as well. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

@chopperstwisted I did a similar test as described above with the old review form that you shared and see that it also updated the display name of a customer on a product page correctly. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

So what are you saying here? You want us to try and locate all the previous review links and resubmit them? Obviously we are not going to resubmit every review manually. I’m trying to understand how you’re going to fix this for us. Thank you

No, I did not say that you need to locate all the previous review links and resubmit them. I just confirmed that the fix resolved the problem for both old review forms (created before the plugin update) and also new review forms (created after the plugin update).

The plugin will not mass update any reviews that have already been saved into the database because it is too risky. Since the plugin is used by so many stores, it is very difficult to foresee all the potential side effects of mass updating reviews. People could have already updated reviews manually or removed them. A mass update will unexpectedly change or recreate them.

Please adjust names of reviewers manually as required on the ‘Reviews’ page in WordPress backend. There is an ‘Edit’ button on each review that will allow you to modify or remove names as needed. Sorry for not being able to be more helpful here.

I’m happy this is fixed for new reviews but I’m very disappointed that all the reviews submitted during the period where the plugin was not functioning as intended need to be manually adjusted. Manually updating 150 reviews is a lot of work and trying to research how the user wanted their name displayed sounds like a long task as well.
There’s no need to respond, I just wanted to pass along my feedback with all of this.

@chopperstwisted Just a suggestion you could make a new CSV of the affected reviews and set all names as first name or anonymous for example. Then delete the reviews and upload your fixed CSV to replace them. This might be faster.
