Anonymous Comments

  • I must be blind- I can’t find an option in the 0.72 version of wordpress that’ll let me disable anonymous comments. Could someone post me a method? That’d be super. ??

    Dangit you’re right. And I had it set “properly.” What I have is some nimrod putting “anonymous” and a fake email address in the form. ??

    well if u want to moderate comment, 1.xx is the way to go.

    Is there any way to require users to register on your site before posting comments? They might still enter a fake address, but it would make it a little harder to post anonymously.

    What I would like is to be able to require a username, but not a password. Is this possible?

    Yes, will the ability to require users to register before posting comments be added soon? I have a problem on my site with anonymous posters using spoofed addresses, ips, and even browsers to post spam advertisements to it. It gets somewhat annoying to have to delete 20 comments a day from this fake person (ads for gambling, prescription drugs, etc!)

    Next time on “Tales From the Crypt” — dead posts resurected.

    Just look around for “comment spam” (i.e. do a search!)
