Anonymous and empty comments

    Hi,
    occasionally, I receive comments to moderate that are completely empty. The user is Anonymous. The only thing that I get is the IP address.

    I made several checks by myself adding comments without being logged in. The comments to moderate that I add are normal.

    So, I understand that maybe these comments are generated from a script. So they are spam.

    What I would know is IF the reason why they are >empty< and anonymous is the security checks where the plugin blocks them before to reach the spam filter.

    Do you have experienced to receive empty comments or you heard about other cases where there are anonymous ad empty comments where the plugin is installed?

    I am perplexed about these comments. My action is limited to remove these occasional comments.

    Hi, I have never received empty comments in my site. I have been using this plugin for a few years now. Have you tried to block those IP addresses via the plugin?

    I didn’t block them. These IPs are always different.

    I received an empty comment just now. the email says:

    A new comment on the post "" is waiting for your approval

    It is waiting that I moderate it.

    I don’t know what to do and I don’t understand why I receive such comments.

    I have 7 IPs blocked automatically by the plugin. But this problem with comments seems something different.

    Now, I am going to ask people to add a comment on any one of my blog post, to make a check from IPs different than mine. To see if there is a real problem or not.

    In any case, I have found a problem

    I tried to add a comment now, to my latest post using the Chrome Anonymous profile and I see that the captcha is cached, now that I installed wp-rocked caching plugin.

    Indeed, I get

    Error: You entered an incorrect CAPTCHA answer. Please go back and try again.

    The captcha to every reload of the page is always:

    two X 4 =

    uhmmmmmmmm :/

    This is a different problem. This new problem could confirm that the anonymous comment I receive are spam.

    Anyway, this caching problem….. is difficult to fix without removing the captcha added by the security plugin.

    Any suggestion?

    I am going to remove the Captcha on comments…. for now.

    Thank you for reporting this. This could be related to your themes. However I have sent a message to the plugin developers to investigate further this issue.
