• I’ve updated a number of sites to 4.6 (all updated flawlessly), but noticed a small but extremely annoying editor bug that only started since the update.

If you cut and paste a section of text into the page, the page auto scrolls down so that the edited line is now at the bottom of the screen, rather than wherever it was on the page before.

Very annoying because you have to look around on the screen for the line you just pasted.

This is happening for me on multiple sites, all since upgrading to WP 4.6…

    Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, me too, not just when copying and pasting but also when pressing the delete or backspace key and on other random key presses. You lose track of where you are. Very annoying. I can only think that this must be a bug so I guess we need to wait for 4.6.1 ………

I too have just updated to 4.6 and the issue i have is with product data-variable products selection. Half of the Attributes and variations pages are hidden. I cannot see anything. Inventory, shipping, Linked products and advanced are all fine except Attributes and Variations

Good – it’s not just me, then!

Has the bug actually been reported?

ady: please post your question in the woo support area rather than randomly in another thread.

Oh sorry, im new to this, and i wasn’t aware that it is a woocommerce issue rather than a wordpress issue as it started after the wordpress update, thanks

So then – back to the issue at hand…

People other than myself are also experiencing this edit issue in the WP editor…. so has the bug been reported?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

This is an editor bug, not a plug-in or environment issue. This didn’t happen in 4.5.3, and started happening immediately after the update to 4.6 on multiple client sites that I manage (some very simple, some very complex).

It’s a bug in the WP Editor when editing posts that are longer than a window-view. It occurs 100% of the time and can be recreated simply by editing a line. The screen jumps to the bottom on a paste, delete, or backspace.

EDIT – I just looked at the dev track – it HAS been reported and marked as requiring a patch, so this post can be closed.

Sorry… I replied about Woo to the wrong message!

Yes happening here also. Glad I’m not the only one.

The issue: Every time I hit backspace the line I’m on gets forced to the bottom of the screen but, even worse, subsequent backspaces cause the entire editor window to jitter up and down. I’m ready to have convulsion!

The only workaround I have found is to use the text editor instead of visual. Thank goodness for markdown support or I’d go completely nuts.
