Animated GIF's as Featured Images in Fashionista Theme

I am trying to us an animated gif’s in featured images on my site https://www.ttthreads.com

I have been using Fashionista theme for a while now and it is great.

From my research it appears to be that when WordPress resizes animated gifs, it will generates a static image.

I have uploaded the animated gif at 640×250 so there is no need for resizing but it is still displaying as a static images.

I have also downloaded a gif resize plugin to try and resolve the issue but no fix.

Does anyone have any ideas?
